We will finally see the sun this afternoon!  Both areas of low pressure have moved northeast of Louisiana.  Now an area of high pressure will build in from the northwest over us.  This will make it clear, but it will also draw down some very cold temperatures.  I am expecting some breezy conditions today, so plan on it being brisk all day.  High temperatures will only be in the mid 40s this afternoon.  Brrr!

Bitter cold temperatures are expected tonight across Southeast Louisiana.  We will be clear and the winds will be very light.  Lows will drop into the mid 20s.  The NWS has issued a Hard Freeze Warning for most of the viewing area along and north of I-10/12.  The freeze is expected to last 3 to 7 hours.  This will be col…

The Chilly Rain Continues Today

Short Term Forecast:  We have a very soggy and chilly start to the day across the Capital City.  The skies are cloudy with scattered showers all around the viewing area.  Temperatures are in the mid to upper 40s.  Bundle up and take your umbrella with you today!

The scattered showers will continue this afternoon as the Gulf Low moves to the northeast and an upper-level low moves over Louisiana from the west.  We could still have some heavy rain at times.  It will be chilly all day with high temperatures in the upper 40s occurring in the morning and slowly falling during the afternoon.  We could pick up an additional 0.25" to 0.50" around town today.  Track the rain with WBRZ's Interactive Radar.

The showers will continue this evening and into the midnight hour.  There is a small window of opportunity between 9 PM and 3 AM where the rain could be mixed with a few snowflakes or sleet across Southern Mississippi and the Felicianas.  This is NOTHING to be excited about and …

An area of low pressure is forming in the Western Gulf of Mexico and it will move toward far Southeast Louisiana.  This will send some scattered showers and a few thunderstorms over South Louisiana this afternoon along with cloudy skies.  We will not warm up much with high temperatures struggling to reach 50°.

Much more rain will arrive around the viewing area tonight and it will become heavy at times!  A few thunderstorms will also be possible.  It will be cold with lows in the lower 40s.

A warm and muggy night is on tap with mostly cloudy skies.  A few showers will still be possible too along with some patchy fog.  Low temperatures will be in the mid 60s.

Weekend Forecast:  The forecast models are not in total agreement of how much rain we will…

Short Term Forecast: It is a clear and colder morning across the Baton Rouge area.  Temperatures are in the upper 30s to lower 40s.  Bundle up as you head to work and school!

It will not be as cold tonight thanks to the easterly winds and some clouds returning to the state.  We will have partly to mostly cloudy skies with lows temperatures in the lower to mid 50s.

Rest of the Week:  The area of high pressure will be well east of Louisiana on Thursday and that will bring in more southerly winds to our area.  This will continue to warm us up and make it more humid.  We will be partly to mostly cloudy with a shower or two popping up.  Highs will be in the upper 70s.  Thursday Night will be mostly cloudy with a few showers.  It will be mild and mu…

More high clouds will stream over us today as a mid-level disturbance moves from Texas across Louisiana.  This will give us partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies at times.  An area of high pressure is also sitting over the Southeast U.S.  This is drawing in northeast winds and that will help to keep it much cooler this afternoon with high temperatures in the upper 60s.

The clouds will exit the area tonight and it will become mostly clear.  We will turn MUCH COLDER with low temperatures falling to the lower 40s.  Brrr!  Bundle up tomorrow morning!

The cold front will be along the coast by this afternoon.  The rain will come to an end and the sky will become partly cloudy.  It will not turn immediately cooler behind the front since the colder air is lagging behind it.  However, it will become less humid.  High temperatures will still be in the upper 70s.

A warming trend begins today across the Deep South.  The ridge of high pressure that brought us the freezing temperatures is moving to the northeast.  As this happens the winds winds will shift from the northeast to the east and then south.  This will bring in the warmer and more humid air from the Gulf of Mexico.  At the same time, upper-level winds will transport in high clouds over us today.  We will be partly cloudy with high temperatures in the mid 60s.

The partly to mostly cloudy skies will stick around tonight as a disturbance, or short wave, moves from the SW to the NE across the Louisiana Coast.  This will spark off a few showers over Southeast Louisiana.  A few could make it into Baton Rouge after midnight, but most of you will stay dry.  Lows temp…
