An area of low pressure that was sitting just off the Coast of Africa has been upgraded to Tropical Depression #9 this afternoon. It has become better organized and will continue to get even more organized during the next 2 days.
A moist air mass, low wind shear and warm waters will all aid in the development of the depression. It is likely that TD 9 will become tropical storm Humberto on Monday. It is also forecast to become the first hurricane of the 2013 season in 3 days.
This system is forecast to track over the Cape Verde Islands then make a few turns, but it will stay out at sea. The forecast models are in fairly good agreement with this track. Fortunately, this system will not track to Louisiana or impact us at all.

Be sure to keep it tuned to WBRZ and my weather blog for additional updates on TD 9 over the next few days. -Dave
