Short Term Forecast: We have some partly to mostly cloudy skies on this Friday Morning. Some coastal showers and storms are also popping up. Temperatures are in the mid to upper 70s.
We will see an increase in the amount of storms we receive today, and that will give us a break from the heat! This is thanks to an upper-level low and a tropical wave that are moving across the Gulf of Mexico. These systems will increase the amount of moisture in the air, and that will allow us to get some much needed rain! We will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some heavy rain will be possible! It will still be hot before it starts raining with high temperatures will be in the lower 90s.
The clouds will stick around tonight along with a shower or two. Low temperatures will be in the mid 70s.
Weekend Forecast: The low and wave will move to the southwest of Louisiana this weekend, but they will still toss up plenty of moisture from the Gulf. Therefore, we will be partly to mostly cloudy with scattered showers and storms on Saturday and Sunday. It will not rain all day, mainly in the afternoon/evening hours. High temperatures will be in the lower 90s and lows in the lower to mid 70s each day.
Next Week Outlook: We will return to a more typical Summer-time pattern on Monday and Tuesday as an area of high pressure builds back over the Deep South. This includes partly cloudy skies with isolated afternoon showers and storms. Highs will be in the lower 90s and lows in the mid 70s.
Forecast models show a cold front moving into the Southeast U.S. by mid-week. It is forecast to stall near the I-10 corridor, and that will help to keep some rain in the forecast. I am expecting isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop on Wednesday through Friday. High temperatures will be in the lower 90s and lows in the mid 70s each day.
Tropical Outlook: Other than the previously mentioned upper-level low and tropical wave in the Gulf, nothing else is going on in the tropics at this time.
Elsewhere the rest of the tropics are quiet, and I am not expecting anything else to develop in the tropics during the weekend.
Enjoy the much needed rain, take your umbrella and have a great weekend! -Dave
