...Flash Flood Watch In Effect Through This Evening...
Short Term Forecast: It is another cloudy and mild start to the day with a few showers popping up on radar. Temperatures are in the lower to mid 60s. Keep that umbrella with you today.
The upper-level low is still sitting over parts of Louisiana and Mississippi today. This will continue to help set off scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms across the Baton Rouge area. However, the coverage of storms may be less thanks to the low moving east of the city. Any storm that does develop could bring us heavy rain and gusty winds. We could still pick up a few inches of rain today. The NWS is continuing the Flash Flood Watch through this evening for all of Southeast Louisiana. Rain totals from the last few days, plus what we get today, could be around 3 to 5 inches! Watch out for any flash flooding once again. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s.
A cold front will move into Louisiana tonight and it will head toward Baton Rouge. This will allow for the showers and storms to continue overnight. Heavy rain will still be possible. Low temperatures will be in the upper 50s.
The cold front will push through town and move east of us on Friday. We will not clear out once the cold front passes through. Instead, we will have lingering clouds and some showers during the day. It will be MUCH COOLER with highs only in the upper 60s. Friday Night will become partly cloudy and turn MUCH COLDER! We actually could tie a record low as the temperatures fall into the lower 40s. The record is 43 set back in 2011. Brrr!!
Weekend Forecast: Another upper-level low will form behind the cold front, and it will move across the Southeast U.S. Baton Rouge is expected to be well to the south of it, so our weather will turn mostly sunny. It will stay cool on Saturday with highs around 70 and lows in the upper 40s.
Sunday will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy and it will be a little warmer. Highs will be in the mid 70s and lows will be in the lower 50s.
Watch out for some heavy rain again, and have a good day! -Dave
