I'm keeping a close eye on the weather in Baton Rouge the next few days. It will be the first of many rainy and stormy days as we head into the Mardi Gras Holiday.
A strong cold front will move out of the Plains States and into the Deep South. It will be very warm and humid ahead of it and the front will tap into that moisture. This will make the atmosphere unstable and scattered storms will pop up starting Sunday.
Looks like we will have some strong to severe thunderstorms possible ahead and along that cold front. These storms could contain large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes. Sunday Morning will be pretty quiet, but things will go downhill later in the day. SPC has all of South Louisiana in a Slight Risk for severe weather tomorrow.

A squall line is also expected to push through town later on Sunday then stall over SE Louisiana by Sunday Night. Not only with this give us a chance of strong to severe storms, but also bring us heavy rain! According to the forecast models we could pick up 1-3"+ of rain between Sunday and Wednesday. Watch for flash flooding! Fortunately, the streams, creeks, bayous and local rivers are low. It does not look like we will have as long of a rainy period as we did in early January.
Stay alert and look for additional updates on Facebook and WBRZ's Weather Channel.
