Christmas Eve Night: We will be clear as an area of high pressure sits over us. Dress warmly as you head to any family gatherings or church services this evening. Temperatures will be falling into the 40s and 30s. It will be very cold again overnight with low temperatures falling to the upper 20s as Santa passes through Baton Rouge. Everyone will need to bundle up!
Christmas Day Forecast: Get ready for a beautiful and cool Christmas! The area of high pressure will move northeast of us, and some clouds will stream in from the Gulf of Mexico. This will make it partly cloudy and cool with high temperatures in the upper 50s. Christmas Night will be partly cloudy and still chilly with lows in the lower 30s.
Rest of the Week: A weak and dry cold front will move through Baton Rouge on Thursday. This will just give us partly cloudy skies and it will fall apart as it moves through. It will be a little warmer with highs around 60. Thursday Night will be mostly clear and chilly with lows in the lower to mid 30s.
Friday will be a pleasant day with mostly sunny skies as another area of high pressure moves over the Southeast U.S. We will be a few degrees warmer with highs in the lower 60s and lows in the mid 30s.
Weekend Outlook: The area of high pressure will stay over us on Saturday with partly cloudy skies and the warming trend will continue with high temperatures in the lower 60s. Look for a few clouds on Saturday Night with lows in the upper 30s.
More clouds will increase over Baton Rouge on Sunday ahead of a cold front. This front will not have much moisture to work with, so we will mainly see some clouds. However, a spotty shower is possible late in the day. Highs will be in the mid 60s. Sunday Night will be mostly cloudy with a few showers as the cold front moves into Baton Rouge. Lows will be in the upper 30s as the front passes through overnight into Monday Morning.
I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas! -Dave
