...Freeze Warning until 9 AM Today...
...Freeze Warning again from Midnight to 9 AM Thursday...
Short Term Forecast: We have a VERY COLD start to this Wednesday! The skies are clear and the temperatures are in the lower 30s. When you add in the winds to the cold, the wind chill temperature is in the 20s!! Be sure to bundle up when you head out the door today!!
An area of high pressure will move over the Deep South Today. It will continue to draw down some very cold air from Canada and that will keep it chilly all day. We will have sunny skies, but they will not be able to warm us up. High temperatures will only be in the mid 50s.
Get ready for another very cold night across the Baton Rouge area. We will have clear skies and light to calm winds. This will make for some good radiational cooling of the Earth, and that leads to some extra cold temperatures. We will have lows in the lower 30s. Frost is expected tonight thanks to the calm winds. The NWS has issued another Freeze Warning from Midnight to 9 AM Thursday. This freeze will not last very long, but it could still kill some tender vegetation. Be sure to bring in or cover any outdoor plants. Have a warm place for your pets, and check on those that may not have heat.
Rest of the Week: The ridge of high pressure will start to move to the east of Louisiana on Thursday. We will still have a gorgeous day and it will be a little warmer. Expect sunny skies with high temperatures in the mid 60s. Thursday Night will be clear and not as cold with lows in the upper 40s.
The weather will start to change on Friday. The ridge of high pressure will be well east of Louisiana. This will cause the winds to shift from the northeast to the southeast. This will allow for warmer and more humid air to start returning to the state. We will see an increase of clouds coming in from the southwest and that will make it mostly cloudy. A spotty shower is also possible. Highs will be in the lower 70s. Friday Night will be mostly cloudy and much warmer with lows near 60.
Weekend Outlook: Another trough of low pressure will be moving across the U.S. This will send a disturbance across the Gulf Coast States on Saturday and Sunday. We will have mostly cloudy skies with a few showers on Saturday. Highs will be in the mid 70s and lows in the lower 60s.
There will be more moisture to work with on Sunday and that means the disturbance will produce much more rain. We will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and a few thunderstorms. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s. Sunday Night will be mostly cloudy with a few showers. Lows will be in the lower 60s.
Tropical Outlook: Everything is staying quiet in the tropics today through Friday.
Bundle up and have a great day! -Dave
