Short Term Forecast: We have a pretty pleasant Friday Morning across the Capital City. The skies are mostly clear with temperatures in the 70s.
A cold front will be moving toward Louisiana and Baton Rouge during the afternoon hours today. We will become partly cloudy ahead of it and a few showers will start to pop-up later in the day. Highs will be in the lower to mid 90s.
The cold front will move closer to Baton Rouge tonight. We will be mostly cloudy with a few showers overnight. Lows will be in the lower 70s.
Weekend Forecast: The front will stall and dissipate along the Louisiana Coast this weekend. This will still allow us to see some rain, but not enough that would cancel any of your plans. Therefore, it will be partly cloudy and hot with a few showers on Saturday and Sunday. Highs will be in the lower 90s and lows in the lower 70s.
Football Forecast: If you are headed to the LSU or Southern games this weekend get ready for it to be hot during the tailgating hours. Each game plays at 6 PM and we will have partly cloudy skies with a few showers during the tailgating hours. At kickoff, it will be partly cloudy and warm with temperatures in the upper 80s. By the time the games are over it will still be warm and muggy with temperatures around 80.
Next Week Outlook: The residual boundary from the old cold front will linger over the area next week. Some tropical moisture will stream up over us from the tropical system in the Gulf as well. This will help to set off daily isolated to scattered showers and storms mainly Tuesday through Friday. Highs will be in the lower 90s and lows in the lower 70s.
Tropical Outlook: Tropical Depression #10 formed yesterday in the Bay of Campeche. It is pretty organized and is forecast to strengthen into a tropical storm later today. It will get the name Ingrid. Winds are at 35 mph and the pressure is 1002 mb. TD 10 is on a slow and erratic track right now and that will continue this weekend. It will eventually move to the NW and make a landfall near Tampico, Mexico on Monday as a strong tropical storm.
Tropical Depression Gabrielle is still churning in the North Atlantic. It will continue to weaken today as it merges with a trough of low pressure. Gabrielle is moving to the north and will eventually make a "landfall" over Nova Scotia as a weak storm later today/Saturday.
Hurricane Humberto is starting to weaken with winds down to 75 mph. Pressure is still low at 982 mb. Humberto will turn toward the WNW and stay out at sea as it weakens into a tropical storm.
Lastly, there is a weak area of low pressure to the east of the Windward Islands. It is not expected to develop into anything at this time. NHC is giving it a low chance of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 5 days.
Watch out for a little rain, and have a great weekend! -Dave
