Short Term Forecast: The tropical wave and upper-level low pressure are sitting along the Louisiana Coast this evening. This gave us the scattered rain and storms today. The rain is mainly along the Coastal Parishes tonight with partly cloudy skies overnight in Baton Rouge. Low temperatures will be in the lower 70s.
You can expect more of the same weather on Sunday as the tropical wave/upper-level low slowly move into Texas. This will give us a mix of sun and clouds with scattered showers and storms starting in the morning and lasting through the afternoon/evening. High temperatures will be held down to the upper 80s thanks to the clouds and rain.
Sunday Night will have some clouds with low temperatures in the lower 70s.
Next Week Outlook: An area of high pressure will build across the Southeast U.S. all of next week. This will limit the amount of rain/storms we get as much drier air aloft moves over us. Therefore, we will be partly cloudy and hot with only spotty showers and storms possible each day from Monday through Friday. Highs will be in the lower to mid 90s and lows will be in the lower 70s.
Tropical Outlook: The tropical wave/upper-level low will continue to move along the Louisiana Coast west toward Texas on Sunday. This will continue to send scattered showers and storms with heavy rain across South Louisiana, but it is not expected to develop into anything.
I'm also watching a tropical wave and area of low pressure (Invest 95L) over the Yucatan Peninsula. This disturbance will move over the Bay of Campeche on Sunday and upper-level winds are favorable for some development. NHC is giving it a medium chance of development as it moves over the far Southern Bay of Campeche. Hurricane Hunters may investigate the system on Sunday, if necessary.
Elsewhere...there is a tropical wave coming off of Africa that is worth watching, but nothing to be worried about right now.
Other than that, the rest of the tropics are quiet.
Have a great rest of the weekend and watch out for some rain! -Dave
