Short Term Forecast: We have a partly to mostly cloudy morning across the Capital City with some light fog. It is warm and muggy with temperatures in the 70s.
The stationary front is still sitting along the Louisiana Coast and it stretches eastward to the Carolinas. Showers and storms will develop along the front with the heating of the day and the sea breeze. Together, they will move inland and give the Baton Rouge area isolated showers and storms this afternoon. Otherwise, we will have a mix of sun and clouds with highs around 90.
Some rain and storms will linger into the evening hours before they dissipate by 10 PM. Then we will have mostly cloudy skies overnight with lows in the lower 70s.
Week Ahead: An easterly wave, or tropical wave, will move from east to west across the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday. This will help to set off scattered to numerous showers and storms over Southeast Louisiana. Some heavy rain can be expected. It will still be hot and humid with highs around 90. Wednesday Night will be mostly cloudy with a few showers. Lows will fall to the lower 70s.
Thursday and Friday will return to a more typical Summer-time weather pattern as an area of high pressure sits off the East Coast of the U.S. This high will bring southerly winds over us and that will keep it pretty humid. We will be partly cloudy with scattered afternoon/evening showers and storms. Highs will be in the lower 90s and lows in the lower to mid 70s.
Weekend Outlook: The area of high pressure will continue to pump in the humid air over us all weekend. At the same time, another tropical wave will move up from the Caribbean into the Northern Gulf. This will give us scattered showers and storms on Saturday and Sunday. It will still get hot before the rain starts with highs in the lower 90s and lows in the lower 70s each night.
Tropical Outlook: Other than the previously mentioned tropical waves, which will not form into anything, the tropics are still quiet.
Stay cool and watch out for the pop-up afternoon storms. Have a nice day! -Dave
