Short Term Forecast: We have a mostly cloudy and misty morning across the Baton Rouge area. Watch out for some patchy fog. Showers and storms are popping up along the stationary front sitting along the Louisiana Coast. Temperatures are in the lower 70s.
The stationary front will remain along the Louisiana Coast today, and that will be the focus for showers and storms in the Coastal Parishes. A few showers may make it into Baton Rouge this afternoon, but we will be mainly dry with partly cloudy skies. High temperatures will be around 90.
Some low clouds will develop overnight and we will be a little more humid with low temperatures in the lower 70s.
Week Ahead: An area of high pressure will be sitting along the East Coast of the U.S. for the rest of the week. This will pump in additional Gulf Moisture over Baton Rouge. At the same time, easterly waves/tropical waves will be moving from east to west across the Gulf. Combine that with daytime heating and we will have scattered showers and storms popping up over us on Tuesday through Friday. Some of the storms could have heavy rain. High temperatures will be in the lower 90s and lows in the lower to mid 70s each day.
Weekend Outlook: More of the same weather is expecting on Saturday and Sunday. We will be partly cloudy with isolated to scattered afternoon storms popping up as the sea breeze kicks in each day. Highs will be in the lower 90s and lows in the lower 70s.
Tropical Outlook: Invest 92L fizzled out over the Western Gulf of Mexico on Sunday, so we don't need to worry about that anymore!
There is a tropical wave located near the Cape Verde Islands, but it is poorly organized. Any development of this wave will be slow to occur over the next few days as it moves to the west at 10 mph. NHC is giving it a low chance of becoming a tropical cyclone.
Elsewhere...the rest of the tropics are quiet and they will stay that way through Tuesday.
Get ready for some soggy weather this week. Have a great day! -Dave
