Short Term Forecast: It is another toasty afternoon/evening across the Baton Rouge area. We have partly cloudy skies with only a spotty storm possible through the evening. Temperatures are in the lower 90s, but will fall to the upper 80s through 8 PM.
A weak cold front will push toward the city tonight. It will bring us partly cloudy skies with a chance of seeing a shower or storm overnight/early Friday Morning. We will stay very muggy with lows in the mid 70s.
Friday will have partly cloudy skies with isolated showers and storms as the cold front moves toward the Coast. Some of the storms could be strong to possibly severe with gusty winds and heavy rain. Even though the cold front will push through town, it will NOT cool us down. We will stay hot and very humid with highs in the mid 90s and the heat index will be around 100 to 105.
What is left of the dissipating cold front will be along the Louisiana Coast on Friday Night. We will have mostly clear to partly cloudy skies in Baton Rouge. Again, we will not cool down with this front, so it will stay muggy with lows in the lower to mid 70s.
Father's Day Weekend: It will be quite oppressive with the heat all weekend. An area of high pressure will build back over Louisiana and this will keep the weather pretty quiet...and HOT! Saturday and Sunday will have partly cloudy skies with highs in the mid 90s and the heat index will be around 105 each day. Expect warm and muggy weather each night with lows in the mid 70s.
Tropical Outlook: All is still quiet! See the graphic below...
Keep cool, stay hydrated and have a nice night! -Dave
