Short Term Forecast: It is a very muggy start to this Tuesday with mostly clear skies and temperatures
ranging from the upper 60s to lower 70s.
An area of high pressure is sitting along the East Coast. This is bringing southerly winds over Louisiana and that is pumping in the warm and humid air from the Gulf. This will lead to another day similar to Monday with partly cloudy skies and spotty showers and storms during the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 80s.
We will have a few clouds tonight and it will be pretty sticky. Low temperatures will only fall to the lower 70s.
Week Ahead: Some deep tropical moisture will stream up from the Caribbean all the way to Louisiana on Wednesday and Thursday. This will allow for scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms to develop on Wednesday all around Baton Rouge. Some storms could become strong with heavy rain and gusty winds. Highs will be in the mid 80s. Wednesday Night will be partly to mostly cloudy with lows in the lower 70s.
The scattered showers and storms will develop once again on Thursday. More heavy rain will be possible. Highs will be in the upper 80s and lows in the lower 70s Thursday Night with some lingering clouds.
The deeper moisture will move east on Friday, but we will still be very humid. You can expect partly cloudy skies with isolated showers and storms popping up with the daytime heating. See the image to the right - it shows how much rain we will get this week, and note the bulls-eye over Southeast Louisiana! It will be hot with highs around 90 and lows in the lower 70s.
Weekend Outlook: The hot and humid weather will persist along with isolated showers and storms on
Saturday. Highs will stay around 90 and lows in the lower 70s.
There will be a little better chance of rain on Sunday as a cold front approaches Louisiana from the north. We will be partly to mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the upper 80s and lows near 70 on Sunday Night.
Keep that umbrella in the car and have a nice day! -Dave
