The short answer is...VERY LIKELY! There has been some very heavy rain falling across Southern Mississippi since Sunday. This is the Watershed for the Amite, Comite, Tickfaw and Tangipahoa Rivers. Doppler radar rainfall estimates show anywhere from 3 to 8 inches of rain has fallen. This will cause the runoff to go into the river basins and flow down into Louisiana.
Looking at the latest forecast river stages, it is possible that the Amite, Comite, Tickfaw & Tangipahoa Rivers will get to and above their respective flood stages by the end of the week!!
The NWS has now issued River Flood Warnings for the Amite river!! Look for additional river flood warnings for other local rivers!
Please stay tuned for updates on this possible flooding situation in the next few days!
