There is a small threat for some strong to severe storms this afternoon across Southern Louisiana and Mississippi. The atmosphere remains unstable behind a cold front that is now stalling along the Louisiana Coast. This include the Baton Rouge area northward into Southern Mississippi. The storms could produce damaging winds and contain large hail around 1 inch or so.
On top of the severe weather threat...we also have to watch out for some heavy rain today. Rainfall totals are forecast to be around 2-4 inches between this morning and Tuesday Afternoon. The NWS has a Flood Watch in effect through Tuesday Afternoon for all of Southeast Louisiana. Watch for flash flooding and rising local rivers over the next few days.
I will continue to watch these storms, and be sure to keep it tuned to WBRZ, WBRZ's Weather Channel, My Facebook and Twitter pages for additional updates! -Dave
