There has been some very heavy rain falling across Southern Mississippi since Sunday. This is the Watershed for the Amite, Comite, Tickfaw and Tangipahoa Rivers. Doppler radar rainfall estimates show anywhere from 3 to 8 inches of rain has fallen, and more is expected today. This will cause the runoff to go into the river basins and flow down into Louisiana.
Right now the NWS has issued River Flood Warnings for the Amite River Basin as it is expected to rise above flood stage by the end of the week. Moderate flooding is expected at this time! Look for additional warnings to be issued during the next few days.
Keep an eye on those rivers as the water could rise quickly. Make all preparations now! If you experienced river flooding back in January then I would plan on seeing flooding again! Stay safe.
