...Dense Fog Advisory Until 9 AM...
Short Term Forecast: We begin this Wednesday Morning with partly cloudy skies and patchy dense fog across the Baton Rouge area. Visibilities could be less than 1/4 mile at times. The NWS has issued a Dense Fog Advisory until 9 AM. Please use caution as you travel to work and school today. It is a mild start to the day too with temperatures in the mid 50s.
Once the fog goes away we will be left with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Then late this afternoon and into the evening hours isolated showers will start moving back into town. This is from an area of low pressure that is forming over Texas now and will move over Louisiana on Thursday. It is going to be a warm afternoon with high temperatures in the lower 70s.
The showers and a few thunderstorms will become more numerous tonight. Lows will be in the upper 50s.
Rest of the Week: The area of low pressure will move right along the Louisiana Coast and spread a warm front along and south of I-10. This will spread scattered to numerous showers and a few thunderstorms over Baton Rouge during the first part of Thursday. Areas along and south of the warm front will have a chance of seeing some strong storms too - mainly south of I-10. The rain and low will move east of Louisiana by the late afternoon. Highs will be in the lower 70s. Thursday Night will be mostly cloudy with spotty showers. Lows will drop into the upper 50s.
Some dry weather returns on Friday with partly cloudy skies. High temperatures will be in the mid 70s. Friday Night will still be partly cloudy, but we could have some fog. Lows will be in the lower 50s.
Weekend Outlook: Saturday will be a decent day with mostly cloudy skies. Highs are expected to climb into the lower 70s and lows in the mid 50s.
The weather is forecast to start changing on Sunday. You can expect mostly cloudy skies with isolated showers and thunderstorms popping up during the afternoon/evening hours. This is ahead of a strong cold front that will move through the city early next week. Highs will be in the mid 70s and lows in the upper 50s.
Enjoy the Spring-like temperatures and have a great day! -Dave
