Short Term Forecast: We start this Monday Morning with more scattered showers and some heavy rain. It is pretty chilly with temperatures in the lower 40s. Better take your warm coat and umbrella with you today!
The showers and a few thunderstorms will continue this afternoon thanks to a stationary front that is sitting along the Louisiana and Mississippi Coasts. Upper-level winds are coming out of the southwest and that is drawing up moisture from the Pacific and Gulf. Additionally, disturbances are moving along the front and all of this is leading to another wet afternoon. Some heavy rain will be possible that will continue to cause some flooding. It will be a chilly day with high temperatures in the upper 40s.
The showers will continue tonight and it will be cold with lows in the upper 30s.
River Stages: Due to the heavy rain we had last week, and the additional rains expected this week, the rivers are expected to stay high and flood. For the latest information on local river stages, go to wbrz.com/links
Week Ahead: The front will stay put on Tuesday and Wednesday. This means more wet weather each day as disturbances will move along the front with chilly temperatures. Highs will be in the upper 40s and lows in the upper 30s.
An upper-level low will move out of the Southwest U.S. on Thursday and into the Southeast U.S. This will help to set off even more rain and some of it is expected to be heavy at times. We will be a tad warmer with highs in the lower 50s. The entire wet weather pattern will clear out on Thursday night and we will have mostly clear skies. It will be cold with lows in the lower to mid 30s.
High pressure is forecast to build over the Southeast U.S. on Friday and it will stick around all weekend. This means NO rain and plenty of sunshine...FINALLY!! We will stay cool with highs in the mid 50s and lows in the upper 30s.
Weekend Outlook: It is expected to stay sunny and dry all weekend thanks to the high pressure. Daily highs will warm up into the lower 60s and lows will be in the lower 40s.
Stay dry and warm today. Have a good one! -Dave
