...Heat Advisory Until 8 PM Tonight...
Short Term Forecast: Once again we have a very warm and humid morning across the Capital City. Temperatures are in the mid to upper 70s with a few clouds.
More heat is on tap today with little to no rain. The area of high pressure is still influencing our weather today as it sits from the Gulf of Mexico west to Texas/New Mexico. This means we will have partly cloudy skies with only a few storms popping up. Most of you will not see any rain today. The best chance is along the coast. High temperatures will be in the mid 90s. The heat index will be 105°+. The NWS has continued the Heat Advisory until 8 PM tonight for most of the WBRZ Viewing area.
Another very warm and muggy night is expected with a few clouds. Low temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70s.
Rest of the Week: The area of high pressure will start to move back to the west on Thursday, and that will allow for some extra moisture to stream up from the Gulf over Baton Rouge. This will lead to a slightly better chance of seeing a shower or storm. We will be partly cloudy with isolated showers and storms. Highs will stay in the mid 90s with the heat index around 105. Lows will be in the mid 70s.
An upper-level low and tropical wave will move across Florida and into the Gulf of Mexico on Friday. This will send even more tropical moisture over Louisiana, and that will help to set off many more thunderstorms. We will be partly to mostly cloudy with scattered showers and storms. Some heavy rain is likely! High temperatures will still be in the mid 90s before the rain starts. Friday Night will be partly cloudy with a few showers possible. Lows will be in the mid 70s.
Weekend Outlook: The upper-level low and tropical wave will slowly move to the west this weekend across the Northern Gulf. This will continue to send scattered showers and storms over the city on Saturday and Sunday. We will be a few degrees cooler thanks to the clouds and rain with highs in the lower 90s both days. It will stay warm and muggy at night with lows in the lower to mid 70s each night.
Tropical Outlook: Other than the upper-level low, which will not form into any tropical system, there is nothing else in the tropics. I'm not expecting anything else to form during the next 2 days.
Please try to stay cool and hydrated again today. Have a good day! -Dave
