Short Term Forecast: We begin this Thursday with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies as clouds stream in from old thunderstorms over the Great Plains. Some patchy fog has also been reported around Baton Rouge. It is a warm and muggy morning with temperatures in the lower to mid 60s.
We will keep more clouds around today and that will make for a mix of sun and clouds. It will be warmer and more humid as the area of high pressure has moved over the Eastern Gulf of Mexico. This will pump in the warm and humid southerly winds over the state. High temperatures will be in the mid 80s.
Expect mostly cloudy skies tonight and we could have some isolated showers popping up toward daybreak Friday. Otherwise, it will be warm and muggy with some fog. Low temperatures will be in the upper 60s.
The weather will go downhill on Friday as a cold front with some disturbances moves into Louisiana. This will set off scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms. Some could have heavy rain and gusty winds at times. High temperatures will be in the lower 80s. The showers and a few thunderstorms will continue on Friday Night. Lows will fall to the mid 60s.
Weekend Forecast: The showers and storms will continue all day on Saturday as one front stalls over Baton Rouge. Some of the storms could contain heavy rain again. Rain totals between Friday and Saturday could be around 1 to 3 inches. See the map to the right. Flash flooding may become a problem for a few areas across Southeast Louisiana. Severe weather is not expected at this time, but a few storms may come close to being severe with gusty winds. High temperatures will be held
down thanks to the rain as they only climb into the upper 70s. Saturday Night will have more rain with lows in the lower 60s.
A second cold front will push the first one into the Gulf, and the rain will gradually come to an end for Mother's Day. We will start the day with some lingering showers, but some sun should come out by the afternoon. We will still be warm with highs in the lower 80s. Sunday Night will be mostly clear and cooler with lows in the upper 50s.
Get ready for a humid day. Have a good one! -Dave
