Short Term Forecast: We have a mostly cloudy, warm, muggy and foggy start to this Tuesday across the Capital City. Visibilities are less than 1/4 mile in some areas, so please use caution! Temperatures are in the lower 70s.
The clouds look like they will stick around today just like yesterday. This will keep us from getting too warm. Some drizzle or mist will be possible throughout the afternoon as well as moisture continues to be drawn up from the Gulf of Mexico. High temperatures will be in the lower 80s.
More clouds and dense fog can be expected tonight along with some mist or drizzle. It will remain muggy with lows in the lower 70s.
Week Ahead: Expect to have a mix of sun and clouds on Wednesday with a few showers popping up. It will stay warm and humid with highs in the mid 80s and lows in the lower 70s.
Much of Thursday will have some pretty quiet weather with partly to mostly cloudy skies as a cold front moves closer to Louisiana. Some isolated showers or thunderstorms may try to pop-up during the afternoon. Highs will be in the lower 80s.
The weather is expected to get rough on Thursday Night as the cold front moves into Baton Rouge. A squall line of thunderstorms is forecast to develop to our west and move into town by Friday Morning. Some of these storms are expected to become strong to severe. Damaging winds and large hail will be possible along with the chance of a tornado. Lows will fall to the upper 50s.
We will have the scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms on Friday Morning until the cold front pushes through the city. Then we will have some lingering showers that will end by the afternoon hours. The skies are expected to clear by Friday Evening. High temperatures will be MUCH COOLER as they only climb into the lower 70s. Friday Night will be mostly clear and MUCH COLDER with lows in the mid 40s. Brrr!!
Weekend Outlook: An area of high pressure will build in behind the cold front all weekend. This will make for some gorgeous sunny skies on Saturday and Sunday. It will stay cooler with highs in the lower to mid 70s and lows in the upper 40s to lower 50s.
