Things are starting to change with the weather across Louisiana and in Baton Rouge. A warm front will move up from the Gulf of Mexico and this will bring in warm/humid air. That will make the atmosphere very unstable, and thunderstorms will start to pop-up. Also, a strong cold front will move in from the west later today and that will also set off plenty of storms. These storms are expected to be severe with large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes.
We could have large hail like was seen last night around the New Orleans area...1"+ in size! Winds could be 60 mph or greater, and there will be enough sheer in place to rotate storms leading to possible tornado development.
Due to all of that, SPC is planning on issuing a Tornado Watch for much of Louisiana SOON. This will likely go into the evening hours.
Please keep it tuned to WBRZ, WBRZ Weather Channel and my Facebook and Twitter feeds for additional information on the threat for severe weather today!
Stay alert and aware of the changing weather!! -Dave
