...Flash Flood Watch Through Thursday Evening...
Short Term Forecast: We have a mostly cloudy, mild and muggy start to this Wednesday with a few showers on the radar. Showers will continue to pop-up during the morning hours. Temperatures are in the mid 60s.
The upper-level low remains parked over Louisiana this afternoon, and that will be the focus for setting off more scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms. By the way...these upper-level lows are always a pain to forecast! A few of the storms could be strong with gusty winds. Heavy rain is likely once again thanks to the very saturated air over Baton Rouge. We could pick up a few inches of rain today. High temperatures will only be in the mid to upper 70s.
Due to the heavy rain we had yesterday, and the heavy rain expected today through Thursday, the NWS has issued a Flash Flood Watch for all of Southeast Louisiana. Rainfall totals are forecast to be around 3 to 5 inches through Thursday Evening! Please watch out for flash flooding the next few days. Remember DO NOT drive through flooded roadways!! Check out the image to the right to see the rain totals.
Scattered showers will continue tonight with clouds skies. It will stay mild and muggy with lows in the mid 60s.
Rest of the Week: More of the same wet weather is on tap for Thursday since the upper-level low will remain over Louisiana. Heavy rain and storms will be scattered over Baton Rouge all day. Highs will be in the upper 70s.
A cold front will move toward Baton Rouge on Thursday Night. This will help to set off even more scattered showers and thunderstorms. Lows will be in the lower 60s.
The cold front will move through the city on Friday, but we will not become clear right behind it. Rather, we will still have plenty of clouds and lingering showers. It will turn MUCH COOLER with highs around 70. The rain will finally come to an end on Friday Night. We will become mostly clear and it will be MUCH COLDER with lows in the mid to upper 40s. Brrr!!
Weekend Outlook: Some much needed dry weather will return this weekend. We will be mostly sunny on Saturday, but it will remain cool. Highs will be in the lower 70s and lows in the upper 40s.
Gorgeous sunny weather is expected on Sunday. It will turn a little warmer too with highs in the upper 70s and lows in the mid 50s.
Keep that umbrella with you and watch out for some flooding today. Have a good one! -Dave
